OUR ORIGIN STORY
Vuma grew out of a long friendship and a shared belief in how organizations should work.
Our founders have known each other for decades, built careers on very different tracks, and never formally worked together. But over the years, our conversations kept circling the same themes. Marketing leaders were expected to drive results without the systems, processes, or internal clarity needed to support the work. Operations leaders were tasked with building structure for teams that were already stretched thin and reacting to constant change. Again and again, we saw how often those gaps showed up in the associations and mission-driven organizations we worked with. Effective marketing depends on strong operations, and operational excellence falls apart without clear priorities and communication. As requests from marketing clients increasingly expanded into questions about structure, roles, workflows, and decision-making, it became clear that solving only half the problem was not enough. Vuma was created to bring those disciplines together in a practical way that reflects how organizations actually work.

Kristine Dugan is an operations, HR, and risk management leader with nearly 30 years of experience transforming organizations across the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. She specializes in stepping into complex environments where systems no longer support performance and leading the structural change required to restore effectiveness. She has served as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Operations and has held senior leadership roles in corporate settings, including at a Fortune 100 company. Her work focuses on diagnosing root causes, redesigning processes, clarifying accountability, and implementing operational frameworks that fundamentally change how organizations function.
